Following the last well attended meeting in Slovenia “7 th Symposium on Mesozoic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans” we would like to present the 8 th Symposium on Fossil Decapod Crustaceans which will be held 19-24 June 2022 in Zaragoza (Spain). Our idea is to organize a face-to-face meeting that will include two days symposium and three days field excursion.
Based on the current situation of the global Covid pandemic and the evolution of vaccination campaigns, we strongly consider that the meeting could be developed without major problems and restrictions by June 2022. But note this tentative information can suffer changes in the coming months.
We plan to send the first circular with a complete program and dates before summer. The meeting will cover all aspects of fossil decapod crustaceans including information from modern representatives. We would like to attract researchers from all over the world interested in fossil decapods and related forms. The meeting will take place in the University of Zaragoza and we will help and provide further information about bookings and travel details. The registration cost is going to be split into two fees, one covering the two days symposium, and a second one covering the three days field excursion. This will help people that want to attend the symposium only.
As a preliminary idea, we are planning to organize the field excursion in the Pyrenees, expending two days in the lower and upper Eocene between Puebla de Roda and Arguís (Huesca) and a third day visiting the famous locality of Koskobilo quarry (Navarra).
